Wi Fi dropping signal

Have used BT HomeHub 33c6 with many devices connected, iPhones, iPad, Windows laptops, TV internet streamer and all has been stable for years. Last week bought a new Windows 8 laptop and every time it is turned on the wireless signal is lost to all devices. The desktop connected via ethernet, not surprisingly, has no problems. Hub is set to 802.11b/g channel automatic - not many alternative settings available on this hub. New laptop has Intel DualBand WiFi adapter set to 802.11n 2.4GHz but has many alternatives. Any suggestions on how to cure the problem?
