Can't connect to FON network

Hi. My android will not connect to FON. I can see it in my list of WiFi connections and it says connected. However when I open a browser window it tells me I'm offline and I cannot connect to the BT log in page. I can connect to Openzone and BT hotspots but not to any FON networks. I am BT broadband customer.
What am I doing wrong?
